BMW is proud to use the technology found in their vehicles to assist the performance of Olympic athletes. By taking innovations such as camera-based pedestrian detection, one project BMW has designed and developed is a velocity measurement system for the USA Track & Field team. The system provides real-time analysis of horizontal approach velocity, vertical take-off velocity and take-off angle.

The BMW Performance Team was formed to help Team USA athletes achieve their Olympic and Paralympic Dreams. Each team member is passionate, talented and constantly striving to improve in his or her sport, and with BMW’s support, members of the BMW Performance Team will be able to focus entirely on training for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Visit Grayson BMW, your BMW dealer serving Oak Ridge for more information on these incredible athletes, including swimmer Natalie Couglin and gymnast Jonathan Horton.
Swimmer Natalie Coughlin is a mere two medals away from becoming, not only the most decorated Olympic swimmer in history, but also the winningest female US Olympian across all sports. Coughlin made her mark by earning a combined five medals between the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens and the 2008 Games in Beijing, and now hopes, with the help of BMW, to become one of the greatest athletes in the history of her country.
Texas native Jonathan Horton boasts six medals from U.S. Championships and was the 2009 and 2010 National Champion. After winning the Silver medal on the high bar in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, Jonathan rewarded himself by purchasing his first BMW. Four years later, he’s determined to add yet another medal, and perhaps another BMW, to his collection.
